Trucking is one of the biggest jobs in Pelican Beach. You pick up a load at a depot, drive it to its destination and get paid for every kilometre you cover. The longer you drive, the more you can haul.
Your first job, step by step
- Go to a depot (the truck icons on the map) and talk to the clerk. Pick a job from the board.
- Rent a truck at the depot. You start with a Mule for store deliveries, and unlock a Benson box truck and semi tractors as you level up.
- For a trailer job, back the tractor up to the trailer and press G to couple it.
- Follow the route on your map to the delivery point. Park the trailer in the green square on the ground, and press G to unload.
- See your pay and experience in the result box. Take another job, or return the truck.
The cargo
- Pallets and store goods: the easiest start.
- General freight, refrigerated goods and building materials.
- Timber, fuel, containers and concrete. The concrete mixer is the cargo itself, so keep it moving.
- Valuable and fragile loads and heavy machinery pay the most. They need careful driving, because damage costs you pay.
Pay and bonuses
- You are paid for the distance of the route, and heavier loads pay more per kilometre.
- Several jobs in a row give a streak bonus. A clean trip with no crashes gives a bonus on top.
- Right after a store delivery you can take a chain job from the same place.
The trucking skill tree
- Every delivery gives experience. Level up, up to level 60, and you earn skill points.
- Spend them in the trucking skill tree on your pad (F6 → Skills). It has five branches: trucks, cargo and trailers, laundering, depot perks and the pro driver path.
- You cannot unlock the top cargo with a weak truck. Each skill needs the one before it, and a high enough level.
- Read more on the Skill trees page.
Good to know
- A depot has parking squares for trailers: use the one on your route.
- You can cancel a job from the truck menu if the trailer is wrecked.
- Rented trucks always come with a full tank.
